The Classic Winter Companion - The snowman is one of winter’s most beloved and iconic symbols, representing the joy and playfulness of the snowy season. This timeless figure, typically built from three stacked snowballs, has been a part of winter traditions for centuries across many cultures. The classic snowman features a top hat, scarf, carrot nose, coal eyes, and stick arms, creating a friendly face that brings cheer to cold winter days. This amigurumi captures the essence of these frosty friends with its traditional accessories and cheerful expression, bringing the magic of winter indoors. Whether standing guard in a snowy yard or serving as a festive decoration, snowmen represent the simple pleasures of winter and the creativity that comes with playing in the snow.
Fun Fact: Did you know that the world’s largest snowman was built in Bethel, Maine, in 2008? Named “Olympia” after Maine’s senator Olympia Snowe, she stood 122 feet tall and weighed over 13 million pounds! The snowman was so large that it required skis for arms and car tires for buttons. The tradition of building snowmen dates back to medieval times, and the oldest known photograph of a snowman was taken in 1853!
